Skinless chicken breast fillets.
What the chain gets, so far
We don't have a shelf price for this yet: we only use published or shopper-reported prices. Once there is one, what's left for the supermarket shows here. Add the price you paid.
- The farmer or growernot published
- Chicken is vertically integrated: the processor owns the birds and the feed, and pays contract growers a fee per bird under private contracts. No current grower fee is published, and no one publishes how a bird's cost is split between breast and the rest of the carcase.
- Processing and packingnot published
- Inghams and Baiada (about 70% of Australia's meat chickens) don't publish the cost of processing or the price they charge supermarkets for breast fillets. Inghams reports only an average selling price across all its chicken products.
- Freight and wholesalenot published
- No processor or retailer publishes the per-kilo cost of chilled delivery from processing plants to distribution centres and stores.
Worth knowing
- Inghams sold its Australian chicken at an average of $6.50 a kilo in the year to June 2026, across every product and every customer (supermarkets, fast-food chains, food service, wholesale). That average covers growing, feed, processing and delivery together. Breast fillets sell for more than whole birds or wings, so it isn't the price of breast.
- Because the same company usually owns the hatchery, the feed mill, the birds and the processing plant, the money for chicken mostly stays inside that company until it sells to the supermarket. That is why no farmer stage can be shown.
- We couldn't find a published 2026 shelf price per kilo for skinless breast fillets from a survey or the press, so no shelf price is shown yet.
